Message from your Principal

Macksville Public School, the ‘Family School’, enjoys a history and recognition unique to the valley. The school is currently undergoing face-lifts and re-designing its learning spaces, incorporating the latest teacher-student learning pedagogy.

The evolving educational needs of our school community are always the focus at MPS. We all work together to create a progressive atmosphere that fosters educational excellence, creativity and resilient learners. After all, it’s all about the children.

Macksville Public School's team includes professional, highly qualified teachers, supported by School Learning Support Officers who provide highly-intensive focus on specific learning.

As an added extra this year, MPS staff numbers have been supplemented with five trainee teachers working with small groups of children in collaboration with Deputy Principal and Instructional Leader, Dr Trish Grace.

Teaching students to think and design their own learning pathways is proving very successful. The underlying philosophy at MPS is always to enhance the achievement of high academic and sporting standards with life-long social skills. Having an extra group of future teachers amongst our ranks this year is an absolute bonus.

Student-parent-teacher collaboration is another advance in the progressive education offered at MPS. Three-way interviews have become the norm where students can be an active part of planning what new knowledge  skills they need to achieve their best. This positive interaction between teacher, student and parent creates a great bond, and leads to success.

A happy playground always greets visitors at MPS. Resourceful Rita, Resilient Ralph, Reciprocal Roxy and Reflective Roy are the names of the four Superheroes who help students develop lifelong skills for learning. Core teaching values, alongside consideration and respect for others and always doing your best will always be part of a great learning experience at Macksville Public.
