Attendance and absences
Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.
In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

Coming to school every day is imperative for a student to be successful at school.
Did you know that:
- If your child misses ONE day of school per fortnight then they miss FOUR weeks per year and over ONE year of their school life.
- If your child misses ONE day of school per week then they miss EIGHT weeks per year and over TWO AND A HALF years of their school life.
Every day counts!
Parents of children from Kindergarten to Year 12 must ensure their children attend school every day. On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school. Justified reasons for student absences may include:
- being sick or having an infectious disease
- having an unavoidable medical appointment
- being required to attend a recognised religious holiday
- exceptional or urgent family circumstances e.g. attending a funeral.
Parents must provide an explanation for absences to the school within 7 days from the first day of any period of absence. Where an explanation has not been received within the 7-day timeframe, the school will record the absence as unjustified on the student's record.
If your child has 3 or more consecutive unjustified absent days our school administration staff will contact you via phone.
